Olliver Design Studio – Collaboration with Architect CGI Visual

Collaborating on 3D Modelling and CGI Visuals

Olliver Design Studio work in collaboration with fellow design professionals such as Architects and Interior Designers to create 3D Models and CGI Visuals.

Project Summary

This is an example of one of the collaboration projects we have worked on with a fellow design professional.

The design and model of this house had already been completed by the Architect, but they needed our help to bring the design to life through 3D CGI visuals.

Olliver Design Studio - before image of model received from Architect prior to any editing
BEFORE This image shows the model as received from the Architect before Olliver Design Studio worked their magic!

The above image shows the model as it was received from the Architect, the model had been built and some details added in but some elements such as the trees and plants look quite realistic which made the house model look less realistic.

We added in some additional details and finishing touches before running the renders, adding details such as gutters, window reveals and window cills really bring architectural models to life. This is assisted by using realistic material textures and additional context such as boundary treatments as well as a bright sky.

The Design Process of a CGI Visual

When providing CGI visuals we assign the model to the actual real-life geographical location and orientation. This is to ensure the lighting and shadows are accurate.

In this particular image the light and shadows helped to elevate the varying depths of the design.

When working in collaboration with other design professionals we believe that communication is key. We send frequent updates and multiple draft images to show the options available.

Once we have completed the rendering process and produced the high quality CGI image we then take this into editing software to form the final image. This usually entails enhancing certain aspects by changing the brightness or saturation of the image, adding some imperfections – as no material is perfect and finally, some solar glare for some character.

We work with our fellow designers to ensure that the final image is exactly how they envisaged it.
